"Today we know what is right, and today we know what is wrong. The slaughter of innocents is wrong. Two million people driven from their homes is wrong. Women gang raped while gathering firewood is wrong. And silence, acquiescence and paralysis in the face of genocide is wrong." -President Barack Obama

National/International Response:
Groups were formed to give aid to refugees. Media coverage began in March 2004. Sudanese government has orchestrated and participated in war crimes against humanity. United Nations gives minimal support ie rice. The United States has yet to intervene effectively. The Sudanese government claims to have terrorist information, and therefore the United Sates refuses to act in hope of attaining this information.

"I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence
encourages the tormentor, never the tormented."

"The 20th century taught us how far unbridled evil can and will go when the world fails to confront it. It is time that we heed the lessons of the 20th century and stand up to these murderers. It is time that we end genocide in the 21st century. - Allyson Schwartz
